Peer review
In a conference setting, peer review is the structured evaluation of submitted abstracts (or papers) by qualified reviewers, leading to a decision the programme committee can stand behind.
Conference peer review is typically faster than journal review and is coupled to a timetable: accepted work must become talks, posters or workshops. Core pieces include reviewer assignment, conflict of interest handling, scoring or qualitative comments, and a decision (accept, reject, reformat, change presentation type). Confidential committee notes should not be mixed with author-facing letters. Unlike a standalone judging app, review in conference operations should leave outcomes on the same records used to build the programme.
