Call for papers
A call for papers is the published invitation to submit work to a conference, stating scope, formats, deadlines and the rules authors must follow.
Societies often say “call for abstracts” when the first submission is short; “call for papers” is still widely used even when a full manuscript comes later. A useful call names topics, presentation types, length and file rules, ethics statements, and what happens after the deadline. The call is a public document and an operational configuration: if the form does not match the text, authors will follow the form. Opening the call is the start of abstract management, not a marketing task that ends when the webpage goes live.
